In the battle for supremacy of the stars, humanity stands on the threshold of not just a new realm of discovery, but a new age as well. With space travel fully realized, the world of Earth seems to be only a speck on the infinite possibilities of the galaxy, and beyond. Hearty adventurers, rogues, pirates, mercenaries, explorers, settlers and teraformers fill the reaches of space, branching ever further from the home planet of Earth. New worlds are discovered and explored, artifacts gained and lost, technology barely keeping up with the human drive for the ultimate freedom of space, and the promise of wealth to be found on the next asteroid.
But the overwhelming silence of space isn't void of life. Aliens, explorers like ourselves, span the stars as well, in craft of their own making. They compete with humanity for resources, and fame. Some are friendly, and some... are not.
And in the furthest reaches of the galaxy, a small rift in the fabric of space itself becomes a tear, and then a ribbon of light. Life in this galaxy squabbles and fights, unknowing that mere light years away, something emerges that could threaten us all... something from the Shattered Space.[OK]
